I know Julian Casablancas is the main draw, but I’ve always been a bigger fan of a different Stroke: guitarist Albert Hammond Jr. Yesterday, he dropped a new single, “Born Slippy,” and announced his third solo album, Momentary Masters (out July 31). He’ll be touring the U.S. through the fall in support of the record, including a Wednesday, Oct. 7 stop at Opolis in Norman.

Hammond Jr. has been releasing solo material since 2006’s underrated Yours to Keep. He followed that up with Como Te Llama? in 2008 and his AHJ EP in 2013, touring as an opening act with Coldplay, Bloc Party and Incubus when he wasn’t headlining festivals and arenas with The Strokes.

The date marks Hammond Jr.’s first solo stop in Oklahoma. Tickets for the show go on sale this Friday.
