People Still Buy Music, You Know: The week’s best-selling records (4/27-5/3)

What are your neighbors listening to? Oxford Karma decided to survey Oklahoma mainstay Guestroom Records about its top-sellers each week to figure out just that. Here’s what was flying off the shelves/out of the crates this week:

1. Alabama Shakes — Sound & Color
2. Blur — The Magic Whip
3. Sufjan Stevens — Carrie & Lowell
4. Kid Cudi — Satellite Fight
5. John Moreland — High on Tulsa Heat
6. Björk – Vulnicura
7. Brand New — Deja Entendu
8. Passion Pit — Kindred
9. Death Cab For Cutie – Kintsugi
10. Various Artists – The Darjeeling Limited OST

It didn’t take Alabama Shakes long to shimmy their way to the top of the list. A week after coming in second to The King, the band climbed to No. 1 with its sophomore LP, Sound & Color. Blur’s long-awaited comeback album — which we reviewed last week — debuts at No. 2, while Sufjan Stevens holds pat at No. 3. The vinyl treatment for Kid Cudi’s Satellite Fight wrangles its way into the top 5, while John Moreland humbly rounds it out with his strong new solo record.

Indie favorites Björk and Death Cab for Cutie jump back onto the list, while Passion Pit keeps a foothold at No. 8. Brand New — fresh from a sold-out show at Diamond Ballroom — enter at No. 7 with the vinyl reissue of their seminal emo effort Deja Entendu, while Wes Anderson’s ever so tightly curated soundtrack for The Darjeeling Limited finishes the list at No. 10.
