Jabee releases new single, reaches even higher state of consciousness

society

You have to hand it to Jabee: The guy managed to become the face of Oklahoma hip-hop at some point in the last few years, and he did so largely without the use of profanity, misogyny, or any other potentially alienating facet of modern rap music. His socially conscious, stay-positive approach tackles real issues while remaining accessible and family friendly (no easy task) — a mentality that has served him well to this point. Because when you collaborate with El-P, you’re doing OK.

“Society” — Jabee’s new single and first since dropping “Roots” back in January — finds the Oklahoma City emcee in vintage form. Its soaring, woofer-friendly beat was produced by Boldy James DJ M. Stacks — who has also worked with Wiz Khalifa, Bun B and Curren$y, among others — complementing the rapper’s socially aware, semi-spiritual wordplay. Chicago native Lando, who we can only hope was named after Lando Calrissian, lends his vocals to the chorus as well.
