Spoon sets Oklahoma City date in summer tour

The worst Spoon song is still better than 99% of the rest of the music out there, I always say. You’ll have the chance to hear that for yourself when the most consistent indie rock band of the 21st century stops by Oklahoma City for a May 17 performance at Diamond Ballroom as part of its latest national tour.

The Brit Daniel-led Austin veterans released their latest album, They Want My Soul — the group’s eighth studio recording — last August, their first since 2010’s Transference. Critics and fans alike felt the “Do You”-anchored LP was a return to the form heard in its mid-aughts string of home runs: 2002’s Kill the Moonlight, 2005’s Gimme Fiction and and 2007’s Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga. Though, as said before, it’s frankly like an A+ student coming back after one A-.

Tickets go on sale next Feb. 13 at 10 a.m.
