Oxford Karma is seeking a college junior or senior for a summer internship located in Oklahoma City. The intern will assist our editors with various daily tasks, up to and including writing news stories, editing and preparing copy for publishing, networking with local businesses to sell integrate and advertising content, and other duties to help streamline and expedite the publishing process. The ideal candidate possesses a fervor for and working knowledge of Oklahoma arts and entertainment, outstanding communication skills, and a desire to learn and grow within an increasingly internet-based industry. Best of all, you will not have to fetch us coffee (unless you really want to).
Location: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Duties:
– Pitch and write stories for publication
– Edit copy for style, spelling, and grammatical errors
– Prepare stories for publication through the website’s backend
– Share content through various social media outlets
– Assist editors in scheduling and organizing content
– Build and maintain relationships with current and prospective clients
– Willingness to assist in advertising sales
– Assemble weekly e-newsletters for distribution
– Create weekly analytics reports detailing website traffic data
Requirements/Qualifications:
– Highly organized and comfortable multitasking
– Vigorous attention to detail
– Exceptional communication skills and command of the English language
– Avid email user
– Strong social media presence
– Intellectually curious and able to see things from a unique perspective
– Must own a laptop
– Must be able to commute to Oklahoma City for 15-20 hours/week
– WordPress experience a plus
– Adobe Creative Suite experience a plus
– HTML experience a plus
– Google Analytics experience a plus
